Salvatore LaRussa Dance Co, Inc. is humbly submitting this letter as a proposal for potential funding for our new nonprofit community-based dance school, Salvatore LaRussa Dance Theatre -The Academy, located in Middle Village, Queens. Salvatore LaRussa Dance Co, Inc. was established in the fall of 2003 and formally incorporated by New York State, receiving Non-Profit 501(c) (3) status in the summer of 2004. SLD - The Academy’s mission is to offer professional dance instruction and arts education to a diverse income area that is lacking in arts, cultural and community activity.
SLD is a performing modern dance company promoting greater awareness and appreciation for dance. As an extension of the company, SLD - The Academy serves as a permanent home allowing the company to better the artistic, creative and educational needs of the Queens/community. The Academy is a long-term, innovative, exploratory learning center for children, parents and adults that will bring the joy of dance to the community. The Academy teaches the art of ballet and modern dance. In addition, it fosters opportunities for active and healthier lifestyles by engaging the community with alternative recreational activities, such as creative movement classes for young children and dance/ theater classes for all ages.
