Dugal Dance Projects will present their newest work Under at the Mare Nostrum Elements Emerging Choreographer Series at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center on February 27th and 28th at 7:30pm and at The International Human Rights Arts Festival at Dixon Place on March 5th at 9:00pm.
Under is about being under him, under scrutiny, and under estimated. Bringing to light themes of gender, sexuality, privilege, and power.
Dugal Dance Projects formed in 2016 by Queens-based dancer and choreographer Jacqueline Dugal. The Project's aim is to offer a positive environment, collaborative workspace, and a sense of community with artists of all disciplines. Physicalizing ideas and feelings through research, improvisation, and contemporary movement.
The Emerging Choreographer Series (ECS) is a 360-degree platform providing new or aspiring choreographers with tools, means and support to create, develop and premiere a new finished work. This years participants include Felipe Galganni, Margaret Jones, Jacob Kruty, Patrick O’Brien, Michelle Sagarminaga, Jiemin Yang, with Italian Choreographer Carmine Caruso and returning choreographer Jacqueline Dugal.
Jacqueline Dugal’s Under is made possible in part by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Under was developed during Mare Nostrum Elements’ Emerging Choreographer Series.
