Latimer House presents WAVELENGTHS: a reading of poetry and prose by Queens Writers’ Lab that explores the interplay between secret and illuminated spaces and how the unseen is made manifest. The reading features Nancy Agabian, Catherine Fletcher, Jared Harel, Mary Lannon, Meera Nair, and Sokunthary Svay and draws inspiration from the Light Spectrum art installation by Antonia Perez. Literature lovers and visitors are encouraged to arrive anytime between 3pm and 6pm to tour the museum and use the Latimer House as a free writing site for Queens Writes Weekend, an annual literary celebration organized by Queens-based journal Newtown Literary. After composing poems and proses of their own, audience will listen to the readers from Queens Writers’ Lab. Together they draw inspirations from and illuminate the spaces in and around the Lewis H. Latimer House Museum.
