On Wednesday, March 26, 2017, QCA hosted its Creative Conversations meeting at SUNY Queens Educational Opportunity Center in Jamaica, Queens. We were joined by Ryan Gilliam of Downtown Arts and Julia Lindgren and Kim Ochilo of Hester Street Collaborative. This meeting focused on artist-driven brick and mortar spaces created by artists and the participating artists' desires to create such a space in Jamaica, Queens.

Ryan Gilliam shared her experiences as a founder of Fourth Arts Block and Downtown Art and what those organizations had to do to acquire their own space in LES. Julia Lindgren and Kim Ochilo shared some insight on what they've learned working with community-based groups on establishing brick-and-mortar spaces. Participating artists were largely from the neighborhood but included visiting artists from other parts of NYC and artists from as far away as Connecticut and New Jersey.
