Queens Council on the Arts invites you to participate in a conversation about the arts and cultural equity:
HOW CAN WE CHANGE THE FUTURE OF ARTS & COMMUNITIES THROUGH CULTURAL EQUITY?
It is time for us to set the stage for honest conversations that address privilege, power and cultural democracy on the local level and for Queens-based artists to contribute their perspectives to this broader discussion.
Tuesday, September 29, 2015, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Queens Council on the Arts
37-11 35th Avenue, Entrance on 37th St
Astoria, NY 11101
Inspired by national conversations about cultural equity and democracy, we are bringing together noted thought leaders from around the country to pan down from the 100,000 foot level to Queens and distill key insights in a unique local context.
We’ll also explore creating an Emerging Artist Leaders Network that will bring Queens-based artists together who are interested in participating in national discussions about art and community and getting their work out to a wider audience.
Join Janice Bond, Cultural Curator and Arts Advocate in Chicago and Jason Tseng, Community Engagement Specialist for Fractured Atlas in NYC as they lead us in an interactive discussion about disruption, art, access, cross cultural understanding and community engagement.
I hope you can join us. Your voice is important.
All responses will be kept confidential. Filling out this form helps us to learn more about you – our audience members – and provides us with the tools to demonstrate our impact to this program’s funders, encouraging them to continue to invest in subsidized cultural activities like this and in QCA.
