LAB at QCA hosts ARTBeat5 NY, a team of Queens-based artists with a wide variety of talent and skills. “Butterfly” (“Paru-Paru” in Filipino), is a multimedia presentation that will feature paintings, illustration and live art, poetry, and live music. ARTBeat5 chose to present on butterflies because they represent beauty, hope, love, warmth, and freedom.

"Butterfly" was inspired by Filipino visual artist and professor Juliane Jumalon (Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary) whose meticulous portraits using watercolor and discarded butterfly wings earned him the title "Queen of the Butterflies." Attendees will have the opportunity to talk to the artists about and provide feedback on their work. Refreshments will be served.
