The Winter’s Tale “Exit, pursued by a bear.” (III, iii)

Leontes, king of Sicilia, is overcome with jealousy and suspicion of his best friend, Polixenes, king of Bohemia, and his virtuous and pregnant wife, Hermione.  Quickly engulfed by his irrational doubts, Leontes attempts to punish the two closest people in his life – and in doing so, inflicts a punishment on himself that only Time can exact.  Sixteen years later, the story resumes in Bohemia – where winter has thawed and redemption just may bloom in the spring.
