2019 New Work Grantee, Jody MacDonald, Presents “Freaks, Geeks, and Strange Girls”

Freaks, Geeks, and Strange Girls An exhibit of eight new, sculptural works inspired by the archetypal characters found in a traditional carnival sideshow. Each piece features an intricately detailed, textile-based figure set inside an elaborately constructed, mixed media diorama that highlights the character's desire - or indifference - to fit into their surroundings. The installation examines "normal" versus "not normal", and provokes dialogue around what it means to fade into the background versus choosing to be visible. Curated by Peter Gynd and presented by Radiator Arts.
