The Forest Hills Choir will proudly present its Spring Concert "Go for Baroque" on June 9th, 2019, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Forest Hills, NY. Our concert will feature popular works from the 17th and 18th centuries. The performance will be conducted by Music Director Ben Arendsen, and feature the Forest Hills Choir, a community volunteer group of 30-35 singers supplemented by four young professional singers. The Queens Consort will provide a string section of two violins, viola, and cello, all playing period-specific instruments, and with keyboard accompaniment by Shawn Chang.

he repertoire comprises of: - Cantata number 196 by J.S.Bach, Der Herr denket an uns. This cantata includes an opening sinfonia, two SATB choruses, and arias for soprano and for tenor/bass. - The Credo by Antonio Vivaldi, of four accompanied SATB movements. - The accompanied SATB anthem by G.P.Telemann, Laudate Jehovam, Omnes Gentes. - The unaccompanied SATB motet Cantate Domino by H.L.Hassler. - Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Strings and Continuo in G Minor, RV 156 to be performed by the Queens Consort as an instrumental work, and show off the skill of this top-level professional ensemble.
