Sounds of Laguardia
Sounds of LaGuardia is a project by multimedia producer and sound artist Sandra Lopez-Monsalve. The project is sonic exploration of LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York that consists of three parts:
Voice of LGA: a curated collection of short interviews that will ask travelers every week a single question to reflect on what it means to travel.
LGA Sonomap: records of ambient noises around the airport that create a digital map that will allow listeners to experience the Sounds of LaGuardia.
Stories of LGA: radio-style stories about different aspects of LaGuardia, including its history and the mural in the Marine Air Terminal (Terminal A)
Until September 30, the artist will be working in her studio in the rotunda of the Marine Air Terminal (Terminal A), or around the Airport recording her pieces. To check the open studio schedule, please visit the website.
This project is also a program of the Queens Council on the Arts Fund (QAF), that is supported in part by the NYC DCLA, Greater NY Arts Development Fund and in partnership with the NYC Council and Port Authority NYNJ.
